Colonel Cardon Crawford is the Director of Government Affairs at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina where he also serves as the Crisis Action Team leader for The Citadel.
Prior to assuming his current duties at The Citadel, he spent 24 years on active duty with the United States Army. Colonel Crawford was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the field artillery upon graduating from The Citadel in 1983. He served in various command and staff positions throughout his career. Operational assignments include the 1st Armored Division, the 24th Infantry Division, the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division and the direct support artillery battalion commander to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Non-operational assignments include the Presidential Inaugural Committee, the United States Military Academy and Executive Assistant to Vice Admiral Paul Gaffney in Washington D.C.
Colonel Crawford deployed to both Desert Shield / Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as the Combined and Joint Director of Operations for the Afghanistan Theater of Operations.
Colonel Crawford is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College and holds a master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the National War College. He service awards include Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star 2OLC, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal. Colonel Crawford is Airborne and Air Assault qualified.
